The process of the piece is a journey of going back to the very essence of yourself, through movement in space and the encounters that might take place. Simple actions such as pushing, pulling and sliding acquire different connotations and meanings as the dancers allow themselves to be open and vulnerable.
From these premises, the world of the piece represents an opportunity to live in the present moment, when anything can happen and all possibilities are available. While performing, I trust my intelligent body and my ability to listen to it and to others. I do not try to conceptualize my choices, but there is always a very clear image, or sensation, or rhythm, or even a memory that drives me and encourages my curiosity.
When I meet someone, possibilities multiply and become more complex. Every encounter is unique and extremely intimate; it represents a chance to know more about the other as well as yourself. How much are you willing to give and what are you keeping for yourself? How does the other’s input influence your own intention, leading the movements of both of you to a completely new direction?
From simple actions to complex memories and physical sensations, the piece is an incredible performative experience which does not allow you to escape, or hide. Like an arrogant partner, it demands you to stand naked under his eyes, in return for nothing other than that ineffable moment of pure existence.
After months, I feel again what dancing really is about: being alive.
