Such a great night yesterday at the Working Men’s Club in Bethnal Green!!
The Friday League, organized by the amizing artists Janina Smith and Caroline Forrest, is an alternative night where artsist from different fields have the chance to perform and express their voice in a completely different context.
Yesterday night for us was a great chance to perform in a different context, with a different audience, who was very supportive and special. Also the opportunity to be in the same space with artists from different fields was incredibly inspiring… all very talented! We had the chance to present an extract of our work Shikishin Funi and the outcome was incredibly moving. Although it was not a proper theatre, we brought this unusual performative space and all the people around into the piece and it became very special. Especially because the dancers were very close to the audience, the connection with them was truly visible and they became part of the piece and create one thing all together.
Everything contributed to shift the work to another level and both me and the dancers anjoyed a lot the atmosphere and the energy around.
Amazing opportunity and we very hope there will be other chances to perform in context like this.
